Satellite Finance: the impact of COVID19 on Venture capital

 

Due to COVID-19, we are rescheduling the original face-to-face event due to take place at Milbank on 19 May. This event will be organised as soon as the organisation of live events is authorised again in the UK. In the meantime, we decided to run a session on VC funding in time of COVID-19. 

 

Webinar Speakers

  • Mark Boggett (CEO @Seraphim Capital)

Mark Boggett is CEO of Seraphim Capital a London based venture firm. The team manage the Seraphim Space Fund, a pioneering $90m fund backed by a range of leading space corporates such as Airbus, SES and Telespazio seeking investments in space related start-ups. He is also director of Seraphim Space Camp an accelerator backed by Rolls Royce, DSTL, Inmarsat, ESA and UK Space Agency. Mark is a director of UK Space Tech Angels and is Chairman of the London Co-investment Fund – one of the most active seed stage tech investors in Europe. Prior to Seraphim he was at YFM Equity Partners serving on their main board for a number of years and working on the British Smaller Company VCT 1 and 2. He has a Degree in Accounting & Finance, MA in Economics & Finance from the University of Leeds and a range of professional investment qualifications.

  • Nick Flitterman (Head of Telecoms @Portland Advisors

Nick Flitterman is Head of Telecoms at Portland Advisers, a financial advisory firm specialising in project and structure finance. Nick has over 20 years experience acting in senior advisory and lending roles across the spectrum of communications, technology and satellite sectors. He previously held senior roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland, PricewaterhouseCoopers and was Head of Telecoms for the Project & Export Finance team at HSBC. His recent clients in the satellite sector include OneWeb, Kacific, Effective Space, O3b Networks, Skybox Imaging, Azercosmos, Thuraya and Iridium. Nick has a BA (Hons) in International Economics and a Maitrise in International Commerce. He is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA, CGMA) and a regular speaker on the telecom & satellite sector conference circuit.
